The center of attention

This person craves attention. It doesn’t really matter where they get it from. Preferably from everyone in the room. Having this person in your venue can easily cause annoyance from other customers. However depending on your venue, every now and then you got a good one. They get the party started and 99% of the people have fun.
What tells do we have on this person:

  • Big mouth and high volume
  • Using all limbs while talking
  • Spending money easily
  • Surrounded by a group

Being the center of attention comes with a price. They need something to to attract attention. That thing usually is money so that is good news. Facilitate them in spending as much as they want but without being annoying.
Another option is is looks. In this case the group around will want to spend money to impress the center of attention.
Overall a ‘center of attention‘ is not the worst character to have hanging around your establishment.

Personal note:

As long as the person stays respectful to the staff I don’t mind having them. Actually, I like making it a sport to start selling more. Especially when having more than 1 centrepiece this works really well.
Both will want your attention as well so play with them and take a little bit better care of the person or group spending the most at any moment. Whenever each of them has a big order, be sure to showcase it. Light fireworks, sing a song, whatever. Just as long as the other person or group notices they are outweighed. That should spice things up a little bit.

Sincerely,

Den The Man
